Award-Winning Residential Remodeling Experience
Our dedication to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction has earned recognition from the communities we serve. CL Howton Construction has been voted Residential Remodeler of the Year for 13 consecutive years through the Hill Country News and has received Carpenter of the Year honors for three years.
These recognitions are especially meaningful because they reflect the support and confidence of our clients. After more than two decades in residential construction, we understand that successful remodeling involves much more than building something beautiful. It requires careful planning, dependable workmanship, respect for your home, and consistent communication from the first conversation to the final walkthrough.
Meet the Family Behind the Work
Calvin Howton Jr., Owner and Contractor, brings decades of hands-on construction and remodeling experience to every project. A graduate of Dallas Baptist University with a degree in Finance, Calvin combines practical construction knowledge with a strong understanding of budgeting and financial planning. He enjoys working directly with homeowners during the consultation and design process, helping them explore possibilities, establish realistic budgets, and make informed decisions throughout construction.
Clear communication and transparency are central to Calvin's approach. Clients deserve to understand the progress of their project, the decisions ahead, and how changes may affect their working budget. Our goal is to make the construction process as organized, straightforward, and stress-free as possible.
The next generation of our family business is represented by Mackenzie Howton, Calvin's oldest daughter. Mackenzie graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Construction Science, served as President of the Construction Science Department, and graduated with a 3.9 GPA. She was also selected to represent Tarleton at the Build Expo in Las Vegas. Her practical experience includes internships involving Liberty Hill's junior high project and the Apple addition, bringing valuable construction education and field experience to our growing team.
From Your Vision to a Finished Project
Every homeowner and every project is different. That is why we offer design consultations to help clients develop their ideas, explore options, and create a plan that reflects their lifestyle, preferences, and budget. If you already have architectural plans or are working with a designer, we can collaborate with your existing professionals to move your project forward.
Our residential construction services include kitchen and bathroom remodeling, custom tile showers, flooring, interior and exterior painting, siding replacement, patio covers, outdoor living spaces, custom carpentry, custom tiny home new builds, and new custom home construction.
As we expand into custom home building, we bring the same practical experience gained from years of remodeling existing homes. Understanding how homes function, how spaces flow, and how construction decisions affect everyday living helps us approach each new home with thoughtful planning and attention to detail.
A Team You Can Depend On
Quality construction takes a team of skilled professionals who share a commitment to doing the job right. Over the years, we have developed long-standing relationships with experienced subcontractors and tradespeople, many of whom we have worked with for more than 20 years. We value dependable partnerships, professional workmanship, and qualified trades who take pride in their work.
From planning and foundations to framing, electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, flooring, and finishing details, we work to maintain high standards throughout the construction process. We also prioritize keeping clients informed, providing regular updates, and maintaining transparency as their project progresses.
